Top tips for your wedding day

Planning a wedding can sometimes feel overwhelming, can’t it? We’re here to help!

Here are some of our favourite tips to keep in mind when you are planning your big day.

30/5 rule

Does it usually take you 5 minutes to leave the house? Allow 30 minutes on your wedding day. When you’re creating your schedule, give yourself some extra room! Everything will take longer than you expect whether that is getting ready, welcoming your guests or doing the group photos. Be generous, give yourselves some more time.

Eat breakfast

It is so easy to forget about breakfast in all the buzz and excitement on the morning of your wedding, so put it into your schedule. Not only will it give you much-needed energy, you might not get the chance to eat again until the evening.

Create a morning playlist

You have spent time curating the perfect playlist for the reception, you’ve chosen the music for your ceremony and even songs to dance the night away, but what will be playing when you get ready? Throw a few of your favourite songs into a playlist and invite your friends to collaborate. Pick songs that bring back fun memories to turn any nerves into excitement.

Assign tasks ahead of time

Ask someone you trust to look after things for you whether that’s your marriage licence or phone. You really shouldn’t need the latter! Do also nominate a friend to collect cards and presents at the end of the night and pick up the guestbook. If you aren’t doing it the next day, decide who is going to tip your suppliers.

Capture the speeches

A videographer will capture your day beautifully, but if you choose not to have one, try to capture the speeches. Ask someone to film them on their phone. You won’t regret it. Be sure to let your photographer know. It’s also worth asking someone just to record the audio!

Take it all in

Your wedding day will be a whirlwind. Between chatting to guests and posing for pictures, it can feel like you spend very little of the day with your new spouse. Carve out a moment for the two of you in the reception space before your guests arrive or during your couples’ photo shoot. You won’t regret it.
